![]() ![]() Tom Clancy fans weren't overly enamoured with XDefiant's initial reveal.įour game modes will be available to players over the course of the test - Escort, Zone Control, Domination, and Occupy - with maps including Attica Heights, Arena, Dumbo, Emporium, Liberty, Mayday, Meltdown, Midway, Nudleplex, Showtime, Times Square, Zoo, and the new Pueblito. Its latest closed Insider session runs from Thursday 16th February to Sunday 19th February (Monday 20th in the UK), and is the first to enable cross-play between PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Since then, Ubisoft has quietly continued XDefiant's development, occasionally opening the game up to registered "insiders" as it seeks to garner feedback from players. However, Ubisoft ultimately chose to drop the Tom Clancy branding after fans criticised the game - and its sassy specialists - for straying too far from the franchise's more serious military themes and formula. XDefiant - previously described as a 6v6 mash-up of Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division - was initially announced as Tom Clancy's XDefiant back in 2021. This Playtests main goal is testing the crossplay functionalities, that's why it's opt out and everybody or only your platform right now.Īnd I do agree it's a valid concern, I'm a somewhat good console player I'd say, i can keep up fairly well in most lobbies but some rounds, you really have no chance against some PC players, especially with the connection problems, the weird controller stuff such as the aim curve, aim assist being weird and everything else.XDefiant, the one-time Tom Clancy branded free-to-play shooter from Ubisoft, is holding another closed Insider test later this week, this one marking the first time cross-platform play will be available on consoles and PC. If you group with a friend who's on PC, you'll be playing in the keyboard pool You can also switch it to match up with everybody, or your platform only. Say as a controller player you'll only match against other controller players and if you play with keyboard & mouse, you'll match with others that do so. Ignoring the discussion in that other comment thread, good news, it's already confirmed that at launch, the game will have input based crossplay. I just hope that in the final release crossplay with PC is opt-in, instead of being enabled by default, or XDefiant will be yet another game ruined by PC players. ![]() With a solid gameplay and being F2P, XDefiant has everything it needs to succeed, my only concern is about crossplay, the lobbies are filled with PC players and it's a sweat fest, crossplay can be disabled in-game, but I didn't find a match when I did it. For some reason loading screens are very blurry and low resolution, but the game itself looks sharp. Graphics are decent, but nothing mind blowing, I like the colorful elements, I'm tired of the 50 shades of brown from milsims games. I couldn't quite get the aim right for my taste, but I didn't mess with the settings that much, there's a lot of options to tweak the aim, so I guess It's a matter of figuring out the best settings. I got the invite and played a bit, I think gameplay is solid, is fast paced and somewhat similar to COD, there are classes and objectives, so it feels like a cross between COD and Overwatch. ![]()
